About Showalter Colgin & Davis, PLLC
Since 1977, we’ve represented property owners, families, and businesses across the Greater Houston area with focused legal counsel and a commitment to protecting what matters most.
Who We Are
Showalter Colgin & Davis, PLLC is a Richmond, Texas law firm serving clients throughout the Greater Houston area. Since 1977, we’ve focused on the legal needs of property owners and families facing complex situations, from eminent domain actions to estate planning and probate matters.
Our practice centers on areas where experience makes a measurable difference. When government agencies acquire private property through eminent domain, we represent landowners, homeowners, and commercial property owners who need counsel they can trust. We also help individuals and families plan for the future through comprehensive estate planning and guide them through the probate process when a loved one passes.
Property rights, family legacies, and personal injuries require more than generic advice. They require attorneys who understand the specific challenges clients face in communities like Sugar Land, Katy, Rosenberg, and Houston. That’s what we’ve built our firm around.

Our Story
David W. Showalter founded our firm in 1977 with a focus on serving property owners and families in Fort Bend County and the surrounding areas. Over the years, William M. Colgin and Stephanie C. Davis joined as partners, bringing their own experience and strengthening our capacity to handle complex cases.
Today, our team includes experienced attorneys and dedicated staff who work together to provide thorough legal counsel. We remain committed to the same principles that guided us at our founding: direct communication with clients, careful attention to details, and representation that reflects an understanding of what’s at stake.

How We Work
When you call our office at (281) 341-5577, you’re not navigating a maze of extensions or waiting for callbacks that never come. Our team is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and we respond to inquiries promptly.
Our experience with representing landowners in eminent domain matters has taught us that property owners need someone who understands both the legal process and the practical implications of government acquisition. We know how to evaluate what just compensation actually means for your property, and we’re prepared to advocate throughout negotiation or litigation.
When families turn to us for estate planning or probate guidance, they’re often dealing with emotionally charged situations. Our attorneys take time to explain options clearly, whether that involves creating a trust, addressing elder law concerns, or handling will contests. We don’t rush through consultations or rely on one-size-fits-all documents.
We’ve also built relationships throughout the Greater Houston area that allow us to serve clients effectively in communities from Missouri City to Pearland, Fulshear to Pasadena. Local knowledge matters when you’re navigating county-specific procedures or dealing with infrastructure projects that affect property values and access.
